Arike Ogunbowale

Arike is an American basketball player who is a member of the Dallas Wings, a team within the Women's National Basketball Association. She played for Notre Dame Fighting Irish in her college days before being drafted with the number 5 overall by the Wings at the 2019 WNBA draft. Arike Ogunbowale was born on the 2nd March, 1997 in Milwaukee Wisconsin to parents Yolanda and Gregory Ogunbowale. Mario Ogunbowale, who is 26 years old, is her brother, and Dare Ogunbowale, 20 years older. As the eldest of her siblings, she was the most spoiled one from her family. Gregory's father served in the Nigerian Army. Ogunbowale comes from an active lineage of family members. Her brother Dare is a professional footballer as is her mom Yolanda used to play softball at DePaul. The cousin of her Endia Ollie plays Volleyball at Tennessee State. Arike finished her high school studies with Divine Savior Holy Angels High School situated in her home town. She played three varsity season while she studied there. Ogunbowale has led her team to multiple victories using her exceptional abilities. Through her time at high school, she has compiled 1,477 points with 739 rebound. Ogunbowale took gold at the 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championship and 2014. FIBA U17 World Championship, and the 2013 FIBA 3x3 U18 Championship. She was named to the 7th July roster of 2014 and was added for the 2014 USA Youth Olympic Women's Basketball Team. Ogunbowale also has been named to the ACC All-Freshman Team after her debut collegiate season. Kobe Bryant congratulated her after shooting a number of big shots in the NCCA Tournament. Ogunbowale despite being an absolute newcomer to the game of basketball has established herself as a star. She's sure to keep her status in the game.
