Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress, who is employed in both film, television and the theatre. Her most well-known role is Teri Joe, a fiery lawyer from her role on the Showtime series Soul Food. Nikki Kodjoe is her new name following her marriage to. Growing up within Baltimore, Maryland, she was always intrigued by acting. In the Maryland high school contest in her early years of schooling, she won the prize for the most outstanding actress. Her acting career began after she was employed by the Washington Ballet Company and theatre. The actress received lots of praise after her debut major role on The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love. The film was followed by films such as 'Boogie Nights Spark as well as Blue Streak. Soul Food received a lot of praise for her performance. Born in Mumbai, India and raised in Nigeria up to the age of seven, Contractor was well-informed about world travels and a variety of cultures at a very young age. She went to boarding school at the age between 7 and 9 years old in London. After that, she and her family relocated to Toronto (Canada) in Canada, where she were raised for her entire life. Then, in Toronto, Contractor excelled in academics and became a classical ballerina. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts, a high school for the arts that was specifically designed to be a school where she was able to study not only dance, but also theatre. Contractor took the decision to study acting more seriously at the age of 16, after ten year of dance. She received a full-scholarship grant to pursue a degree at the University of Toronto after graduating. There she earned her master's degree in theatre and double majored in social and psychology. Contractor was offered the lead part in Pericles following a brief time at University. She was a part of the audition for the role during the Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and was awarded. The year 2002 was a great one for her. Canadian theater critics were awed by her performance during 92 performances of the play. The conservatory in Stratford takes eight people with four females, as well as a few others for a weeks crash course. The actress's spot in the next stage season was securing and she was offered the part as Hermia.
